Gwendolyn Brooks
Gwendolyn Brooks was an influential writer, holding many titles, such as being the first Black poet to win the Pulitzer Prize and being the first Black woman to hold the role of Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress, now known as the Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry. She became a professor of English at Chicago State University in 1990, a position she held until her death.
