Psst, wanna know who Emma Goldman is?
Born in the Russian Empire, Emma was faced with the abusive system and anti-semitism happening around her and when she refused to get married at 16, she escaped with her sister Helena, fleeing to America. She became an activist and fought for women’s rights and even helped found the organization that would eventually become Planned Parenthood. In 1919, Emma spoke out against the military draft for WWI. She was stripped of her citizenship as a result. She penned numerous articles, one of her books being “Living My Life”, a 1000-page autobiography.
