Known as one of the first Greek feminists and the first Greek female journalist and editor, she launched the first Greek publication that specifically targeted a female readership, while run entirely by women called Ephimeris ton Kirion (Ladies’ Journal). She became a pioneer of the feminist movement in Greece by using her social status and advocated of women’s rights in the 19th century. She has participated in international women’s conferences and proclaimed the need to provide education and employment for women as well as playing a key role in establishing ensuring women’s right to vote by persuading political figures at the time to declare that they were in favour of women’s vote.
