Unfortunately the only way that fast fashion brand can afford to sell their clothes for such cheap prices is because someone else is paying the price. The biggest production costs for us are salaries, fabrics and rent. The only way to keep pricing so low is by exploiting garment workers (out of which 80% are Women), paying them so poorly that they cannot even afford to feed themselves and their families properly, keeping them in unsafe, inhumane working conditions and forcing them to fulfill impossible norms. And the fabrics used are so cheap only because they are made through processes that are incredibly polluting and harmful to the environment and ultimately, us - not in a metaphorical sense, that we’ll suffer the consequences of global warming, but we’re suffering now due to the toxic chemical residue left in these fabrics that is in direct contact with our skin.The most depressing part is that the exploitation of garment workers is not solely a fast fashion occurrence, but the majority of high end, luxury brands do it as well & produce in the same factories fast fashion does. So unfortunately not even a higher price tag guarantees the ethical treatment of the people involved.The system must be overturned and we must speak up and continue to use our voices to demand better from brands, from governments and ultimately, from ourselves. Not everyone can afford to make different choices, absolutely, but it’s not the people who buy a new pair of jeans when the one they have breaks beyond repair who keeps these systems profitable and who purchase on average 68 new items of clothing per year. Let’s not keep giving away our power, I believe in our force as individuals, as a community, as compassionate human beings to create change.

Reminder that a dress made with intention & love looms INCREDIBLE on every body, that your wedding dress especially should be made to fit you, it’s not your body that must be put through hell to fit it 🤍
All the dreamy details ✨ It was really difficult to find lace made from organic cotton - literally 95% of the lace we could find was made from synthetics, the remaining majority of poly-cotton blends, but after much heartbreak (we saw sooo many beautiful laces that we would’ve loved to be able to use), we finally found it. A beautiful floral embroidery with 3D petals, made from GOTS certified organic cotton 🤍 Isn’t she beautiful?
It takes a bit of time to get from a sketch to a finished product and I will admit, I am not a patient person. But in this case, it works in my favour and my impatient-ness makes it all sweeter, because that moment when you see the dress in real life for the first time, it’s absolutely magical. We were all in awe of how perfect the Aurora dress came out 🤍 How do you like it, have any of you set your sights on it, may she be the one?

For international Women’s day, my team doesn’t just receive flowers & a bonus, they also have their rights & autonomy respected - everyday.🌹 Currently behind everything you see at Loud Bodies works a team of 9 people. All my employees are paid starting at more than twice the minimum wage, it is my greatest accomplishment to be able to offer my team good, living wages and a safe environment to work in.🌻 We do not have a norm to fulfil - we recognise that our team members are humans, not robots (shocking, I know) and that some days they can perform more, some days less and there is no issue with that. Nobody should be sacrificing their health for work and having punitive measures for not fulfilling (impossible to fulfil) norms is inhumane.💐 Nobody has a fixed schedule, everyone can choose their hours and the lunch break is on me – they’ve got a 30 minute lunch break + as many bathroom/snack breaks as needed all within the 8 paid hours they spend at the atelier (so they don’t spend 9h at work to cover for the 1h breaks). At the end of the month, those add up to at least 10 extra hours they would normally be spending at work and wouldn’t be compensated for.🌺 Everyone has 20+ paid vacation days per year and unlimited paid sick leave. We give raises at least once per year, holiday bonuses and my goal is for everyone to be paid at least three times the minimum wage / twice our country’s average wage by the end of 2024. As we grow as a business, that growth has and always will be shared with my team.🌷 As for working conditions, no dark, cold, unsafe factory here – we rent a small house in the city that gets plenty of natural light, we’ve got heating/cooling systems for every season.🌼 We offer free filtered water, unlimited free coffee and tea and everything needed for the well functioning of the atelier is provided by us.And all these are possible thanks to you. Your orders, your respect, your patience - they all allow me to create safe and fulfilling work places in an industry that literally does not have them. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting us 🤍
Dresses for everybody ✨ Most brands base their marketing on exclusivity - you have to be thin, white, tall, able bodied to fit their brand aesthetic and people try to fit into their clothes in hopes that it’ll make them feel like they fit in, like everything they’re doing for their image is worth it and bringing them closer to perfection. For us, you are perfect the way you are and we’re here to make clothes for your body as it is now. We don’t want you to make efforts to fit into out clothes, we’re here to put in the effort to ensure our clothes fit your body. I want you to see the joy of the normal people who are wearing our clothes and to know that is attainable for you as well. I want our inclusivity to be what makes people want to buy from us, not only do I not care about exclusivity, I hate it. Loud Bodies is a place for everybody 🤍 And in case you were wondering, our custom orders are still free of charge even for the Bridal line - because I mean what I say, we’re here to put in the work to make sure what you buy from us will make you feel good about yourself and truly feel that it was never your body’s fault, but the fault of poorly made clothes that don’t really fit anyone.
I don’t think I ever received as many compliments as I did when I wore the Alice dress, our newest addition to the Affordable Line, to the Bridal shooting. Everyone was saying how pretty it is and if it’s one of ours - it is! So I thought it deserved a few moments in the spotlight ✨ How do you like Alice? Should we make it in more colours?
Our Bridal dresses carry the names of Goddesses of love - this is Freya, the goddess of love and fertility in Norse mythology, and she is associated with sex, lust, beauty, sorcery, gold, war, and death. She could be both a gentle ruler and a fierce warrior. It was Freya who introduced the gods to seidr, a form of magic that allowed practitioners to know and change the future. Freya presides over the afterlife realm Folkvang.
