Cross your fingers for us, beautiful people, since if everything goes well, we’re going to have some great news next week 🤍 Unfortunately it’s not the leisurewear collection, the most hopeful timeline for that is around late March, as our fabrics are incredibly late and keep getting delayed, we’ve yet to receive the base size of the new patterns, test it & then wait for them to get scaled as well and on top of everything our provider has upped their minimum order quantity per each color from 100mts to 300mts, which is why we have to discontinue some of our colours and it’s going to make creating new collections a lot more difficult, as well as restocking the current colours - it’s not been a fun Mercury Retrograde 🤦🏻‍♀️
But as always, we’ll find a way to make it work 💌 How’s your week been going? The stunning @sheflourished_ in the pastel pink Freya dress, available in sizes XXS to 10XL & made from the most comfy sustainable linen & cotton blend 🤍 A dress that’s here to aid you in taking up the space you deserve 🐈Loud Bodies is my love letter to every person who’s ever been made to feel less than, unworthy or not good enough by the fashion industry and our society. It’s something I put all my love, sweat and occasionally tears in, with the purpose of making our clients feel beautiful, making you feel loved and respected by the clothes you wear. I wish for our clothes to be what enables you to go about your day feeling invincible, not uncomfortable and constricted. I wish for our clothes to be what enables you to take up the space you rightfully deserve - @patriciasvoice 🤍 The stunning @isgipsy in the Venus dress, available in sizes XXS to 10XL 🌸@LoudBodiesLeaping through to Spring - the first two months of 2021 have come with many challenges, but as tiny, dainty snowdrops are poking their heads out, they’re bringing with them hope that maybe there’s quieter times to come. How has the beginning if this year treated you? Are you looking forward to Spring? The stunning @cookiecat.herine in our sustainable pastel pink Rosalind looking like a dream ☁️☁️☁️ Available in sizes XXS to 10XL & made with love in our little atelier in Cluj Napoca 🤍The stunning @karayiib in the sustainable white cotton Rosalind, available in sizes XXS to 10XL and many shades 🌱 What’s your favorite Rosalind colour? The stunning @lydiahudgens in the sustainable white cotton Gabrielle, available in sizes XXS to 10XL & made with love in our little atelier in Romania 🤍I want to thank you for the absolutely overwhelming support you’ve shown us since yesterday. I am speechless and so, so, grateful to have such an incredible community. When I started writing yesterday morning I just wanted to get the frustration out of my system and never in a million years could I have imagine this response.
I have decided to stand my ground and ask for my money back. It was a tough conversation to have - for my partner 😂 my anxiety can’t take that kind of confrontation over the phone. If you come at me via email, I shall tear you apart and sign off with my best regards, but verbal confrontation is really above my mental health state at the moment. I am hopeful we’re getting our money back.
We got in touch with another company who is willing to work with our sizing chart, they seemed really professional over the phone call - fingers crossed.
On the long run, the next thing on my to do list is definitely learn pattern making from scratch - right now I know how to alter and scale, how to ensure a pattern will work and fit right on a size, but I have yet to learn how to operate a pattern making software. But worry not, I will & then the sky will be the limit 🤍
This has unfortunately set our leisurewear collection best case scenario two weeks back, worst case scenario a month back. The initial launching date was beginning of February and this was just the cherry on top of everything going downhill. Currently, I think the most realistic scenario is mid-March.
This has been is exhausting and the aftermath is disappointing, but I am proud we made the decision to tell her where to shover her tiny sleeves, as someone yesterday brilliantly put it. And I want you to know that you’ve played a big part in helping me make up my mind and gave me the confidence to do it. I can only hope to be able to return the favour by creating clothes that make you feel beautiful, make you feel loved and respected by the clothes that you’re wearing, not uncomfortable and constricted. I wish for our clothes to be what enables you to go about your day feeling invincible.I’m tired, you guys. For the leisurewear collection that we’ve been working on, we decided to reach out to a pattern making specialist and I have been smacked all over again by this industry’s disinterest and fatphobia. We wanted to start working with someone who knows more than us, because my knowledge is limited and I really wanted to be able to create better stuff. I think you could tell by now that many of our items are similar, that’s because we base them on the same base patterns - the Olympe, Venus, Michelle - they all have the same patterns for the top & we create different versions for the skirts.
We have a few patterns that I have learned to modify, scale & alter to create new items, but for this year I really wanted more than that. I wanted cooler, sexier necklines, puffier sleeves, different silhouettes and I really wanted to be able to work with someone on that, because seeing as I already am doing the work of like 7 departments, I do not have the luxury of enough free time to be able to sit for 3-4 weeks and only learn pattern making from a to z.
After two weeks since we sent the “expert” our designs and specifications, we receive an aggravated email about how they’ve never seen such a sizing chart before in their lives, how this is unworkable with, impossible.
The next morning we receive a phone call from her in which for 10 minutes straight she is scolding and shaming us, the paying clients, for our poor sizing chart, telling us how she “stood up all night” thinking about it, but it just can’t be done. My partner literally couldn’t put in a word as she kept going on and on and on and interrupting whenever he tried to speak (I’m too anxious to be able to take this kind of call 😅).
Her problem with our chart is the fact that the sizing progression is not the same for all sizes - which is unrealistic for bigger sizes. She kept saying that its abnormal and “grotesque” the kind of measurements we have, that a size must increase with 4cms the most. Which is ok for S-M-L, but totally unrealistic above that. (Continued in the comments)The incredible @tessholliday looking like an absolute dreamboat in our sustainable mini Gabrielle, available in sizes XXS to 10XL & made with love in our little atelier in Cluj Napoca, Romania 🤍 All our items are produced ethically in house & with the utmost care & respect for both our clients and the environment 🌏Style maven @jamie_jetaime looking absolutely stunning in the sustainable Rosalind dress, made with love in sizes XXS to 10XL in our little atelier in Cluj Napoca, Romania 🤍 how do you like it? 🥰How would you feel about a Loud Bodies book club? We’d pick a book each month, create content with & around it and at the end of the month have a live on here & talk about what we’ve learned from it as a community, with any of you joining the live or maybe if we can, set up lives with the book’s author? If you’re into the idea, what book should be our first? 🤍
